Historic moments from the Olympics

ERIC MOUSSAMBANI

En los juegos Olímpicos de Sydney 2000, Eric “La Anguila” Moussambani nadó hacia la fama internacional en los 100m libres.  Eric NO gano la medalla de oro, ni mucho dinero, ni siquiera estuvo cerca de la marca mundial, pero se ganó la simpatía de cada uno que lo vimos casi ahogarse para llegar a la meta.

Eric nació en Guinea Ecuatorial, un pequeño país de Africa. Comenzó a nadar solo 8 meses antes de las olimpiadas y como en su país no hay albercas olímpicas (de 50 metros) entonces nadó en una alberca de 20m del hotel Malabo. Con muy poca experiencia, casi nula técnica pero con una ambición única, Eric llegó a Sydney dispuesto a dar lo mejor de sí.

Por azares del destino en el hit eliminatorio de Eric para los 100m libres solo eran 3 nadadores. Obviamente nadie sabia quien era Eric y para su fortuna los otros dos nadadores saltaron a la alberca antes de tiempo y fueron descalificados por salida en falso, dejando a Eric solo en la alberca olimpica de Sydney. Al sonido de “..on your marks, get set, go!!!!”  Eric saltó al agua y nado los primeros 50m de la misma forma que creo muchos de nostros lo haríamos, al regresar el cansancio se apoderó de él, y literalmente, como pudo, nadó hasta la meta. Parecía que se ahogaba, que no iba a llegar. Eric llegó en 1:52.72 cuando las marcas están por debajo de los 47 segundos. Rompió el record nacional de Guinea Ecuatorial y salió de la alberca feliz y radiante.

Cuando lo entrevistaron saliendo de la alberca, él solo dijo: “I’m feeling good!!!  I am Happy!!!”

Eric: otro gran ejemplo de tenacidad, deteminación, seguridad y fe!!!

Every once and while I start searching for new tutorials to improve my Photoshop skills and techniques. There is a bunch of websites nowadays, offering you lots of juicy and innovative tutorials. The problem is that among these websites there’s a lot of “fill up stuff”.
